So you’re interested in juicing. Either you’re looking to be healthier by consuming more fruits and veggies, you’d like to start a juice fast or you’re trying to stay away from preservatives in store bought juice (have you read the article explaining how most store bought juice sits in a vat for a year? Yikes!). Regardless of why juicing has peaked your interest, you’ll need a machine to help extract the juice.

How does Juicing work? Juicing allows vitamins and nutrients to be separated from the fiber and pulp of your favorite fruits and vegetables. The lack of solids means the nutrients are absorbed into the body more quickly while bypassing the digestive track. For individuals pursuing a juice fast, this bypass allows time for their digestive track to rest and be cleansed from toxins.

Ever since a Breville juicer was featured on the 2010 release of "Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead" it's become a very popular appliance choice. In the movie, Joe Cross goes on a juice fast to lose nearly 90 pounds and free himself from medication for his auto immune disease. His success has inspired many to be healthier and incorporate juicing into their lifestyle. Luckily, Breville has a variety of juicer models to choose from based on your needs.

Breville Juice Fountain Compact BJE200XL
Don’t be fooled by the great price. Not only does this machine outperform other budget juicers, it’s fast as well. Like the name suggests, it’s the smallest of the juicers that Breville sells making it perfect for the occasional juicer or smaller kitchen. At 16”x9.5”x9.5”, almost anyone can find counter space for this machine. It has a single speed 13,000 RPM motor that works well for both fruits & vegetables and a 25 oz. juice jug. Like other Breville products, the feed tube is 3” wide which means whole fruits can be thrown in without chopping. Stainless steel blades are standard along with the Italian made micro mesh that helps to extract up to 30% more minerals and nutrients over competing products.

Breville BJE510XL | the Juice Fountain® Multi-Speed

Breville Juice Fountain Multi Speed BJE510XL
Upgrade to the Juice Fountain Multi Speed for reduced waste and maximum juice. This flexible appliance has an RPM range from 65,000 – 12,500 to maximize efficiency. It is especially important to juice softer fruits and melons at slower speeds to ensure the pulp is not ejected before all the juice has been extracted. This multi speed model includes an LCD speed indicator screen that also displays a short list of fruits that would be most compatible to the speed you’ve selected. Successfully selecting the right speed means more juice and drier pulp so you can be drinking healthy nutrients & vitamins within 5 seconds. Blenders vs. Juicers

Having covered the features and benefits of Breville juicers, you may be wondering how they compare with a blender. Juicers are unique because they separate the fibrous plant pulp from the fluid nutrients, vitamins & minerals while blenders will pulverize the whole fruit or vegetable into a thicker dense fluid. Although blenders are most commonly used to create blended fruity delights, shakes and desserts, they can also be used to make green smoothies. These smoothies contain the entire vegetable with no pulp leftovers.

In 2013, an analysis commissioned by Breville was conducted by the Australian Government National Measurement Institute comparing nutritional content of juicers vs. blenders. Using the exact same ingredients, the National Measurements Institute used two top juicers and two top blenders to make the comparison. The results of the analysis found that juicing provided twice the nutrients when compared with blending a smoothie.
